Hi!

My name is Jimmy Buchanan and I am a recording and mixing engineer based in the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area. I am mainly working out of the renowned "Grill Recording Studios" located in Emeryville, CA, where I have an internship.

During my internship, I have studied at SAE Expression College in Emeryville for my Associate's Degree in Audio Engineering and Production. I also graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2018 with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.

My journey with music production and engineering began in my freshman year of high school, when I began to take up the guitar. Having listened to classic rock from the 1950's - 80's all my life, I was driven to pick up the illustrious instrument after faking it in "Guitar Hero" for too long. With the help of the Internet, I was able to teach myself how to play guitar (as well as a couple other instruments since) and played in a band during my last years of high school.
While playing guitar for a living would certainly be fantastic, I decided that I would be better suited as an engineer that could help artists accomplish their creative goals. That set me down my current path, where I have had the amazing opportunity to learn from some amazing teachers and engineers at both the University of Nevada, Reno and here in the Bay. Now, I look forward to working with as many artists from as many genres as I can, and I look forward to working with you!
